Richard, a seasoned CFO and thought partner to his clients, joined the Kiwi Partners team in 1999 and has over twenty-five years of experience in legal, financial, and nonprofit organizations. Richard currently performs the CFO role for his clients, including providing oversight and support to Kiwi Partners and the client’s accounting staff.
From 1999-2007, Richard was the outsourced full-time CFO at Kiwi Partners client - The American Thoracic Society (“ATS”) from its start-up phase in 1999 to a $25mm organization. Richard's expertise was instrumental in the implementation of software for accounting, membership and subscriptions, and fund-raising activities; established and managed all banking requirements. He also managed cash-flows/liquidity, investments, receivables, billing, fixed assets and prepared the corporate budget, monthly financial statements and forecast projections.
During his 25 years at Kiwi Partners, Richard has carried out CFO work for over 60 nonprofit organizations. This has amassed him a huge amount of experience in a multitude of client situations and scenarios. Richard’s adaptability and versatility were evident in his diverse client portfolio, which included A Better Chance, All Star Code, Congregation Beth Elohim, The Copyright Society of the USA, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative, North America, Foundation for Jewish Camp, Nonprofit New York (formerly Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York), Opportunity Agenda, Phandeeyar Myanmar Innovation Lab, Physicians for Reproductive Health, Schools That Can, Student Sponsorship Program of South Africa, Friends of the Legal Resources Centre of South Africa, University of Cape Town Fund, VoteRunLead and World Union for Progressive Judaism.
Richard is conversant with many software packages and accounting packages such as Fund EZ, QuickBooks, Financial Edge, Great Plains, and iMIS membership database.
Richard received his undergraduate degrees in finance and law from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and his MBA at NYU Stern School of Business. He is also a New York Certified Public Accountant. Richard enjoys traveling, going to the beach, watching movies, and eating ramen.
